what we evolved for
WildWooHoo is a science-art studio in Sydney, an open and welcoming space where scientists, artists and scientist-artists work together. Science is a culture of its own, full of stories, images and meanings, and the studio makes music, entertainment and education from it. The science runs the whole range, from peer-reviewed research to the images and ideas a culture holds about science and scientists, across the natural world and the technologies we build.

Bring a science-into-music workshop to your school
Kangaroo Time Kids turns animal-behaviour research into music, dance and embodied learning for primary and lower-secondary students, booked as a school incursion in assemblies, STEAM sessions and festival keynotes. In delivery now.
What we care about
We make work people take part in: partnerships, co-creation and community, scientists and artists side by side. We hold it open and fair, attentive to inclusion, equity, access and who gets represented. We root it in culture, identity and belonging, and in the contexts people live in.
We make it land through feeling, curiosity and wonder, the things that make science stick, and we translate research into stories, songs and images, across languages and forms. We make it to matter, for learning, for engagement, and for how science and society grow together. We are part of the animal kingdom too, and we celebrate it.
Partnerships
WildWooHoo × WELI
Our main partnership right now: a founder-led, behavioural-ecology partnership where Dr WELI's research on animal behaviour and the natural world becomes music, books and school programmes.
Work
Kangaroo Time is the studio's worked example and its first major music work. It turns PhD research on the personality and social behaviour of wild eastern grey kangaroos into a song and film. The dance cast drew its styles from multicultural Canberra, so the work carries belonging and difference as it carries the science.
It is the AAAS Dance Your PhD Global Winner 2024.
