What we are

A creative innovation studio. We are not a production company. We lead the creative direction of your production. We do the thinking: the ideas, the references and the narrative, on work that has to carry a complex subject.

Dr WELI is an award-winning creative director who weaves scientific thinking into the making, alongside aesthetics and themes from science and science fiction, and multicultural and other cultural references, chosen to suit what you are trying to say.

Partnerships

WildWooHoo × WELI

WildWooHoo x WELI (the studio's work, built from founder Dr WELI's own kangaroo research). Our main partnership right now: founder-led evolutionary ecology, where Dr WELI's research on animal behaviour and the natural world becomes music, books and school programmes.

Work

Kangaroo Time is WELI's music video, made before the studio. It is a finished project that shows the method in action, and its sci pop method grew from it. It shows the method run all the way through to a finished song, and music is the studio's first format. It turns PhD research on the personality and social behaviour of wild eastern grey kangaroos into a song and film. The dance cast drew its styles from multicultural Canberra, so the work carries belonging and difference as it carries the science.
