Engagement & Events

WildWooHoo offers live science engagement, the in-person talks, performances, residencies and workshops that carry peer-reviewed research to real audiences through music and story, so conferences, festivals, cultural institutions, councils and universities get a memorable event that widens who takes part in science, and every booking runs through Dr WELI's programme.

There are four offerings on this page: keynotes and conference energisers, science-art residencies, commissions and campaigns, festival and community engagement, and university research-communication and Dance Your PhD workshops. WELI, Dr Weliton Menário Costa, is the speaker, artist and creative scientist who delivers the work. WildWooHoo is the studio that produces it and partners on it. Each offering links to its Dr WELI programme page, where you see the detail and book.

Keynotes and conference energisers

A keynote talk or a high-energy science performance that opens or lifts a conference, staff day or industry event. It carries real research through story, music and a live moment the room takes part in, so a plenary or a break becomes something people remember.

This is for conference and event organisers, professional bodies and workplaces who want a science-grounded speaker with stage presence. Booked through Dr WELI. See the programme and book.

Science-art residencies, commissions and campaigns

Residencies, commissioned works and public campaigns that turn a body of research into music, film and live science-art. WELI works with the science, the place and the audience to make something new, from a single commissioned piece to a running campaign.

This is for cultural institutions, festivals, funders, councils and research bodies who want an original work or a place-based collaboration. Booked through Dr WELI. See the programme and book.

Festival and community engagement

Science festival appearances, public science events and community workshops that bring research to a wide audience through music and performance. The work meets a general public in the open, in plain language, and often across more than one tongue, so more of a crowd can join in.

This is for science festivals, public science programmes, community organisations and councils running events for a broad audience. Booked through Dr WELI. See the programme hub and book, or read more on the science-art page.

University research-communication and Dance Your PhD workshops

Research-communication and Dance Your PhD style workshops and guest lectures for universities, HDR programmes and research festivals. WELI works with researchers on turning their own science into a clear, moving story for a wider audience.

This is for universities, graduate research schools and research-communication teams. Booked through Dr WELI. See the programme and book.
